Pergola - Festival Des Cabanes 2025

Pergola was an early concept developed for the Villa Medici’s Festival des Cabanes 2025, before evolving into the final project, Castello. While both proposals share the same intention — creating a shelter shaped by nature rather than against it — Pergola explored this idea through a more organic and continuous spatial system.

The structure was imagined as a long, rhythmic sequence of arching frames, draped in a flexible mesh that merged visually with the surrounding orange grove. Seen from above, the form followed a soft undulating line, echoing both garden architecture and natural canopies. Inside, the mesh created filtered shadows, transparency and porous boundaries between architecture and landscape.

My contribution focused on sketches, form-finding, digital modeling and the first series of renderings. Although Pergola was not selected as the final proposal, it laid the conceptual groundwork for Castello and opened a reflection on lightness, repetition and experiential pathways — themes that resonate with hospitality and outdoor spatial design.
